Designed as a one-knob solution to achieve perfect compression effortlessly, the Triton Audio Kompressor is an inline jFET Opto compressor that makes it easy to dial in the best sound for your ribbon, dynamic, and tube microphones. The unit runs on 48V phantom power and provides 25 dB of gain without compression.

An orange LED inside the knob indicates the signal is compressed. If the LED flashes, it signifies light to medium compression, while a continuously lit LED suggests heavy compression. The knob on Kompressor adjusts how much compression is applied to your microphone signal. Because it’s designed as a simple one-knob control, the amount of compression will depend on your microphone’s output level.

Note: Kompressor uses phantom power to power its circuitry, but doesn't pass phantom power to the microphone.

At a Glance
  • For ribbon, dynamic, and tube microphones

Low-Output Microphones
Low-output microphones (Shure SM7B, most ribbon mics): these microphones produce a weaker signal, so the compression effect will be more subtle. To achieve more noticeable compression, you'll need to turn the knob closer to the "More" side.

High-Output Microphones
High-output microphones (e.g., Shure Beta58, Beyerdynamic M88): these microphones produce a stronger signal, so they naturally trigger more compression. For these, you'll likely want to stay closer to the "Less" side of the knob to avoid over-compressing the signal. For really loud sources, the AirHead (sold separately) is recommended.

Protects the Microphone
Some older ribbon microphones do not tolerate phantom power. Kompressor uses phantom power to power its circuitry, but doesn't pass phantom power to the microphone, so rest assured your ribbon mics are safe.
